The Art of Racing in the Rain

The Art of Racing in the Rain 4 New Star Golden Retriever

Who remembers the emotional movie about a family and their adorable and naughty dog, a film called Marley & Me? They have done it again! A new touchy-feely dog centered film The Art of Racing in the Rain is released by the same studio on August 9, 2019. Starring Kevin Costner, Milo Ventimiglia, Amanda Seyfried and Golden Retriever Enzo.

The Art of Racing in the Rain

The Art of Racing in the Rain is based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein. This upcoming American comedy-drama film is directed by Simon Curtis and written by Mark Bomback. Yet another movie that is told through the thoughts of a dog, this time a golden retriever Enzo, named after Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari. Enzo is voiced by Kevin Costner. The 20th Century Fox film follows the life of a race car driver and his wife. This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia as Denny and Mamma Mia!’s Amanda Seyfried as Eve.

Based on a Bestselling Novel by Garth Stein

We don’t really know how the story is presented in the movie but the novel follows the story of a race car driver Denny Swift and Enzo, his dog who believes in the Mongolian legend: “A dog, who is prepared, will be reincarnated in his next life as a human.” Garth Stein takes us back to the beginning where Enzo the puppy is riding around race tracks with Denny as he chases his dream of being a professional racer. Denny works at a body shop in day time but at night Denny and Enzo rewatch races of the rain master Ayrton Senna. A three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna is considered to be the best racecar driver of all time by many. Thanks to the bond with Denny, Enzo believes he has a human soul. He has gained great insight into the human condition and understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate the journey of life. He becomes a sort of savant at racing and a witty commentator on human preoccupations. Denny meets Eve and marries her and soon they have a child, a daughter Zoe. Enzo detects through his acute sense of smell the development of Eve’s brain cancer. Enzo helps Denny through his ups and downs and plays a key role in Denny’s child-custody battle with his in-laws. The novel moves in dog years where the sweet nostalgia of youth turns into the compromises of adulthood.

Is The Movie as Good as The Novel?

Watching the trailer of this movie I got the feeling of “Fast and Furious” instead of “Marley & Me “. Description of the novel certainly has a rollercoaster of emotions, from the moment Enzo is a puppy to future years when he’s in his old age. But I guess it’s totally fine to attract not only dog lovers with the trailer but also people who like cars and racing too. The more the merrier, right! Honestly, I can’t wait to see the movie, with beautiful star actors and an interesting story behind it. Did you know about the movie? Share this with your friends too! Maybe you can go and watch it together when it’s released. You are awesome!   The Art of Racing in the Rain in Wikipedia
