There are so many great animated movies out there, but growing up I especially remember one, The Lion King. For me, it was probably my favourite of them all and I’m not surprised if it were to so many other people too. in September 2016 the plans of remaking The Lion King were confirmed. Walt Disney’s original animated Lion King was released in 1994 and now 25 years later in 2019, we can enjoy the live action of the greatest animated movie of all. Who is excited? I certainly am waiting for the release impatiently. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in the US on July 19, 2019.

Returning of The Greatest

Can you believe it? Beyoncé Knowles-Carter plays Adult Nala! The original animated Lion King had beautiful tracks and Walt Disney Records will release the original soundtrack for the new live-action remake of The Lion King. Featuring “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with Beyoncé and Donald Glover. There’s more! Golden words from the original Mufasa are back! “Remember Who You Are, Remember”. James Earl Jones who was the voice of Mufasa in 1994 returns in The Lion King Live Action 2019. The director Jon Favreau said: “I remember when we were recording his voice for Mufasa, he asked me if I had any direction for him, and I didn’t know what to say. It was like, ‘Just do what you do. You are him.’ As if remaking of the film isn’t exciting enough the main cast signed is very impressive too

Full Cast of The Lion King

  • Donald Glover plays the adult Simba who is the future king of the Pride Lands.
  • Beyoncé Knowles-Carter plays the adult Nala who was Simba’s playmate as a cub and is a skilled hunter as an adult.
  • Seth Rogen plays Pumba and Billy Eichner plays Timon, they are best friends. Pumba is a flatulent warthog and Timo is a sarcastic meerkat. They live by “Hakuna Matata” – It means no worries for the rest of your days, It’s our problem-free philosophy…
  • James Earl Jones returns as the voice of Mufasa who is the King of the Pride Lands and father to Simba.
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Scar who is Simba’s bitter uncle, and second-in-line to the throne.
  • Alfre Woodard plays Sarabi who is the Queen of the Pride Lands, and mother to Simba.
  • John Oliver plays Zazu a hornbill who counsels Mufasa and babysits young Simba.
  • John Kani plays Rafiki who is a wise mandrill and guides Simba on his journey home.
  • And of course, the three hyenas featured in the film – Eric Andre as Azizi, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari and Florence Kasumba as Shenzi.

Story of The Lion King

The Lion King is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s originally animated 1994 film of the same name. Simba is the son of Mufasa and the Prince of the Pride Lands who hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps. Mufasa’s brother, Scar, betrays Mufasa and takes over the Pride Lands, forcing Simba into exile. Simba meets his new friends Timon and Pumbaa with whom he will live until he grows up. Simba fights his past, rebuilds himself fully and takes over what is rightfully his. The original Lion King is definitely a movie of our time, we grew up with it. It’s one of the most emotional and beautiful movies of all time. We are going to see the live action of it, for sure! Did you know about the movie? Share this with your friends too!
